Olarm
3rd Floor, Pam Golding on Main, 325 Main Road, Kenilworth, Cape Town, NA - South Africa, 7708, South Africa
Overview
Olarm builds a "smart" home alarm system consisting of a central hub and small peel-and-stick sensors that each monitor a single room for motion, water leaks, temperature, humidity and smoke. The system runs on Wi‑Fi and switches to a cellular connection if internet service is interrupted. Olarm says the system learns a user's lifestyle and adapts to help avoid false alarms, and is controlled via a smartphone app for rapid, DIY installation without professional help. The company is raising initial funds via a Kickstarter campaign to make and sell the system and is offering discounted systems to backers. The system's average retail price is about $150, depending on number of sensors. Olarm was founded by San Diego residents Joseph Faltaous (who runs All State Security Service) and Michael Nessim (CTO at a local media streaming company).
