Founded in 2018, Omcare developed the Omcare Home Health Hub, an all-in-one digital device that dispenses pre-packaged medication doses, verifies that medication was taken, and connects patients with caregivers virtually. The company launched a pilot of the Home Health Hub in 2022; medications are delivered to the home in pre-packaged doses of up to 30 days and dispensed at scheduled times. The device retails for $1,599 and is paired with a $19.99 monthly subscription. Omcare says the technology addresses caregiver shortages, rising healthcare costs, missed medications, and the needs of the population over 65 who want to remain independent at home. The $8.2 million pre‑A funding will be used to develop, commercialize and expand the Home Health Hub, and 2024 is planned as an expansion year with new pharmacy and healthcare provider partnerships. Following a 2021 merger the company rebranded from Anser Innovation, the maker of the PetChatz webcam product. Ōmcare develops the Ōmcare Home Health Hub, which combines on-time medication dispensing with visual confirmation that users are taking the right medication at the right time and a video portal for face-to-face communication with care teams. The company is led by Founder and CEO Lisa Lavin and is based in Medical Alley, Minnesota. Ōmcare is running a pilot program in early 2021 with Minnesota-based Ecumen Senior Care and Thrifty White Pharmacy to evaluate impacts on medication adherence, cost of care and feelings of isolation and loneliness. The company raised $2.5 million in funding and plans to use the capital to commercialize the Home Health Hub. A commercial launch is expected later in 2021, contingent on building upon pilot program success.
