Onēva provides employers with a platform to offer vetted in-home care services—elder, infant and child care—plus housecleaning and other services as employee benefits. All providers undergo FBI background checks, criminal checks, reference checks and ID verification; only about 6% of applicants pass the startup’s screening. The company has been piloting its program with Microsoft since February, and Microsoft plans to expand the benefit to more employees. Usage metrics from the pilot show male employees book over 60% of jobs, families spend 2.5x more than Onēva forecast, each family signs up for more than two services on average, and over 40% request three or more services. Onēva projects doing over $10 million in revenue in its first year of operating. The CEO, Anita Darden Gardyne, said the company needs additional capital to scale beyond its early traction.
