OncoLize
Onder de Kerk 33, Maastricht, Limburg, The Netherlands
Overview
Founded in 2023 and operating from Maastricht and Leiden in the Netherlands, OncoLize has created the patented ChemoGell™ platform, a thin liquid that turns into a drug-laden gel seconds after being injected into a tumor. The depot can be loaded with a wide range of chemo- or immuno-therapeutics and achieves up to 150-fold higher drug concentrations inside the tumor while cutting systemic exposure by up to 1,000-fold. Pre-clinical studies at Leiden University Medical Center showed 100 % survival and tumor eradication in an aggressive pancreatic cancer model with no observable side effects, and additional programs in lung, gastric and immunotherapy combinations are under way. The gel is compatible with existing biopsy needles and endoscopes, can be compounded in hospital pharmacies, and is protected by patents running to 2042 in the U.S., China and Japan with EU approval pending. OncoLize plans to begin first-in-human trials in 2027 for pancreatic and other hard-to-treat solid tumors. Financially, the company closed a €1 million Seed A round in March 2023 and is now marketing a €3.5 million Seed B to fund clinical readiness. Management foresees a €10–17 million Series A in 2027 and is targeting exit options within five years.
