Ondine Biomedical
888-1100 Melville Street, Vancouver, BC, V6E 4A6, Canada
Overview
Ondine Biomedical develops light-activated antimicrobial therapies (photodisinfection) marketed as Steriwave® for nasal decolonization prior to surgery. Its technology kills viruses, bacteria and fungi rapidly without promoting resistant strains. Steriwave® has a CE mark in Europe and the UK and is approved in Canada and several other countries; the US product is currently in clinical trials. Hospitals using the therapy in Canada and several UK NHS trusts have reported reductions in surgical site infections, readmissions, length of stay, and antibiotic usage. The company has a distribution partnership with Mölnlycke Health Care to expand reach outside North America. Ondine recently raised Cdn$16 million (approximately US$11 million), which it says accelerates preparations for a pivotal US Phase 3 trial.
