Onduo is a newly formed joint venture between Verily (Google’s life sciences business) and Sanofi focused initially on type 2 diabetes. The company intends to build a behavioral-change digital platform that will integrate software, hardware (sensors expected to be core), medicine and service. Executives say they do not yet have a finished product and are developing modular components that will be integrated into the platform. Those modules will be tested in clinical care settings through partnerships with Sutter Health and Allegheny Health Network. CEO Joshua Riff frames the effort around lifestyle and behavioral modification rather than purely medication titration. The venture is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Financially, the JV was capitalized by sizable contributions from the two partners to fund initial operations and product development.
