OneD Battery Sciences
2631 Hanover Street, Palo Alto, CA, 94304, United States
Overview
OneD Battery Sciences builds silicon-nanowire Sinanode technology intended to boost graphite anodes for smaller, lighter and more efficient battery packs. The company says Sinanode can enable more silicon in cells without disrupting existing supply chains and processes. OneD plans to license the technology to automakers and industrial partners aiming to develop affordable, energy-dense batteries at scale. The firm is Palo Alto–based and is partnering with GM in a joint research venture to integrate Sinanode into GM’s Ultium battery cells to extend range, improve performance and cut costs. Financially, OneD completed a $25 million Series C funding round that included investment from GM Ventures and participation from Volta Energy Technologies. The deal accompanies GM’s broader push to scale its Ultium platform and reach 1 million annual EV manufacturing capacity in North America by 2025.
