Overview
Oneforty operates an "App Store for Twitter" that aggregates third-party Twitter applications and tools. It announced an e-commerce alpha launching January 12 that will allow developers to sell apps through the service. The platform will impose a $0.99 minimum price, take a 30% cut on most sales and reduce its cut to 20% for apps priced above $14.50. During the alpha it will support only one-time purchases, with the company hinting at subscriptions and additional payment options later. Developers who opt out can continue to accept donations; Oneforty will pay PayPal fees up to $500 and pass 100% of donations to developers. The company previously raised $1.6 million (including some older, previously undisclosed money) and left open the possibility of expanding the Series A to $2.4 million. The fundraising and product launch followed rumors that Twitter had considered acquiring the service.
