Onena Medicines is developing a pipeline of antibodies that modulate Dual SMAD Inhibiting Proteins (DSIPs). The company’s flagship program, OMED-1, is a humanized LEFTY neutralizing antibody that has shown in vivo efficacy in preclinical breast, colorectal and glioblastoma models. Onena uses deep learning pipelines to humanize and optimize binding affinity and plans to select a development candidate for OMED-1. Its second program, OMED-2, is a fully human antibody against an undisclosed DSIP target the company believes may affect solid tumors such as melanoma. The current financing is intended to accelerate the development of these DSIP-modulating antibody programs and to advance OMED-2 through in vivo proof-of-concept.
