OnLume Surgical develops novel fluorescence-guided surgery (FGS) imaging systems for use during a range of surgical procedures. Its core product is an FDA-cleared FGS imaging system for fluorescence imaging of blood flow and tissue perfusion before, during and after vascular, gastrointestinal, organ transplant, plastic, reconstructive and microsurgeries. The system is designed to illuminate critical anatomy in real time to optimize precision, improve patient outcomes, reduce morbidity and lower costs. OnLume is also developing additional applications of its imaging platform, including tumor-specific fluorescent agents to help surgeons identify residual cancer tissue. Financially, the company completed a Series A financing raising over $7 million and previously received a $2 million Phase II SBIR grant from the National Cancer Institute. Proceeds are intended to support a commercial launch into its first market vertical and to advance other market opportunities over the next 24 months.
