Ookbee is Thailand’s largest e-bookstore, claiming about an 88% market share. The platform has amassed roughly 3 million users and is adding about 6,000 new subscribers each day. Last year it delivered about 8 million books (free and paid) and generated revenues of “several million dollars.” Ookbee operates from a Thai headquarters and has an office in Vietnam and a recently incorporated office in Malaysia. Its Malaysian launch attracted about 100,000 users reading 40 magazine titles and 5,000 e-books. The company is preparing expansion into Singapore by April and secured a deal with Singapore Press Holdings to add roughly 100 SPH magazine titles to its platform.
