Hays House, Millmead, Guildford, Surrey, GU2 4HJ, United Kingdom
Overview
Open Energy Market operates an online platform that allows medium-to-large companies to solicit bids from major energy suppliers via a live reverse auction process. Launched in 2013 and led by CEO Chris Maclean, the Surbiton, London–based company counts more than 200 businesses and organisations among its users, including Dairy Crest, EasyJet, Southampton Football Club and London Business School. Businesses provide details of their usage and suppliers submit competitive bids through the platform. The company intends to use new funding to strengthen sales and software teams, expand the platform to cover additional fuels and waste services, and move into the U.S. market. Open Energy Market raised £3m in funding from Calculus Capital. Calculus Capital is described as an Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) and Venture Capital Trust (VCT) specialist.
