OpenSensors builds an air-monitoring system that pairs sensors (humidity, CO2, light intensity and particulates) with a data platform the company calls its "special sauce" to reveal workplace and workforce conditions and patterns. The platform is used to guide optimal capacity and reduce viral transmission, helping companies return workforces to offices more safely and supporting a shift toward flexible working. OpenSensors competes with Condecco and Workplace Fabric while taking a more "360 degree" approach. The company has more than 30 customers with complex real estate operations across North America, Ireland, the U.K. and Europe in industries including insurance, finance and tech. OpenSensors previously bootstrapped and was supported by customer revenues prior to this raise. Founder Yodit Stanton, who also runs the U.K.'s Women In Data event, led the company through the seed fundraise amid growing VC interest in air-quality startups.
