Openvolt provides an API that gives developers access to energy data, with an initial focus on smart meter data. The company aims to remove regulatory, financial and technical hurdles that impede energy innovators from integrating meter data. Its platform targets use cases including improved energy efficiency in homes and commercial properties, better electric vehicle charging experiences, and demand response solutions for the grid. Openvolt is about to launch a Beta API that grants access to meter-level energy consumption data in the United Kingdom. The company raised a €1.5M pre-seed round to accelerate API development and hire key roles, including remote software engineers across Europe. Openvolt was co-founded by CEO Dave Curran and CTO Don O’Leary and is based in Dublin, Ireland.
