Opsani builds AI-based software that continually tunes cloud applications' resource and performance parameters using reinforcement learning. The platform optimizes company-specific business metrics—such as transaction volume or latency—by modifying resource parameters and observing application performance in real time. Unlike monitoring tools that only provide feedback, Opsani actively changes parameters to improve performance, and it differentiates from cost-focused services by tuning application behavior rather than merely finding the cheapest resources. Co-founder and CEO Ross Schibler described the company's reinforcement-learning technique for tuning application performance. Opsani is based in Redwood City, Calif., and currently has about a dozen employees and a handful of customers. The startup recently raised a $10 million Series A, which it says will support hiring more staff and continued product refinement.
