Orasi Medical develops software and a commercial database of magnetoencephalography (MEG) scans to help pharmaceutical companies speed development of drugs for neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s. The company says it owns the largest commercial MEG scan database and is the only provider of MEG biomarkers, which drug makers can use to determine whether therapies are working by comparing patient scans to normal-brain scans. Orasi’s product is positioned to reduce costly late-stage drug failures by informing go/no-go decisions. The startup generates less than $1 million a year in revenue but has begun commercial validation via licensing deals with Novartis and H. Lundbeck. Orasi also received a $245,000 federal Qualified Therapeutic Discovery program grant. The company is pursuing additional capital and aims to expand its database and commercial deployments as it grows.
