Orbillion develops a predictive modeling platform that simulates media and bioprocess parameters to predict how mammalian cell cultures will scale from surface cultures to liquid suspension. The platform is designed to reduce costly lab trials and accelerate scaleup; Orbillion validated the approach with a successful 200-liter production run. The company focuses on premium heritage breeds and has developed Wagyu beef cell lines that grow in suspension without carriers and without genetic engineering. Orbillion positions itself as a B2B provider that scales cells cheaply for partners—such as Luiten Food—who will handle commercial sales. Cofounder and CEO Dr. Patricia Buber says the company targets economic production around 2,000 liters and plans further scale testing with partners. Financially, Orbillion has raised cumulative funding of $15 million, following a $5 million seed round announced in 2021. Orbillion Bio develops cell-cultured heritage meats, focusing on wagyu beef as well as bison, elk, and lamb. The company showcased its bioplatform for functional testing of cell lines at industry events and held a public tasting of cultured wagyu, elk, and lamb. Orbillion recently completed an oversubscribed seed round to fund pilot production of cultured wagyu beef. The startup emerged from Y Combinator and attracted strong investor interest after its Demo Day presentation. Founders Patricia Bubner, Gabriel Levesque-Tremblay, and Samet Yildirim bring roughly thirty years of combined experience in bioprocessing and biopharmaceuticals. Orbillion says it is working to address cost and scalability challenges in cultured meat, alongside peers such as Singcell and Future Fields.
