Origo Biopharma
Polígono Parque Tecnolóxico de Galicia, San Cibrao das Viñas, Ourense, 32911, Spain
Overview
Origo Biopharma is a biotech company developing locally acting TGF‑beta inhibitor drugs targeting fibrosis and oncology indications. Its lead program is a novel molecule for gastrointestinal fibrosis associated with Crohn’s disease; other programs target idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and colorectal cancer. The company’s technology is designed to avoid the adverse effects historically associated with TGF‑beta inhibition. Origo was founded in 2017 by GalChimia and Julio Castro and is based in the Parque Tecnológico de Galicia (Ourense); Ramon Bosser joined as CEO in 2019. The €2.3M seed financing will fund completion of regulatory preclinical development and enable initiation of first clinical studies (planned for 2021) for its Crohn’s‑associated fibrosis candidate, while advancing its IPF and colorectal cancer preclinical programs.
