Overview

Orum develops ML-powered APIs and products (Foresight and Momentum) to enable real-time movement of funds and intelligent routing across multiple payment rails. Its Momentum product is powered on the back end by banking providers including JPMorgan Chase and Silicon Valley Bank. The company serves enterprise partners such as Alloy, HM Bradley, First Horizon Bank and Zero Financial. Orum reports transaction volume is growing roughly 100% month over month. The remote-first startup emphasizes diversity in hiring and investors and has joined the Cap Table Coalition to allocate part of its financing to underrepresented founders. CEO Stephany Kirkpatrick launched the company in 2019 and frames the mission as providing universal financial access by making money movement instant. Orum is a NYC-based financial-infrastructure company led by founder and CEO Stephany Kirkpatrick. It offers embeddable products that deliver smart, real-time and fully automated money-movement for enterprises, including Movement—an API that routes payments across multiple rails while optimizing for speed, cost and risk—and Foresight, which predicts ACH return risk. Initial customers include large financial services firms such as First Horizon Bank and next-generation fintechs like One and Alloy. Orum raised $21m in a Series A to accelerate hiring across data engineering, machine learning and data science, and to expand its partnership teams. The company also maintains a network of over 30 advisors and angel investors from the payments and fintech space. Orum is a New York City–based money movement platform that builds infrastructure for faster transfers. The company launched Foresight, its debut product aimed at enabling financial institutions to move money in real-time. Orum is led by founder and CEO Stephany Kirkpatrick. The founding team includes CTO Ryan Cooke, who led technology and U.S. expansion for consumer neobank N26, and VP of Data Science Christine Hurtubise, who previously led the function at Stash. In July 2020 Orum raised $5.2M in funding from a mix of institutional investors and industry operator angels. The raise supports the company’s early commercial launch of Foresight and broader product efforts to accelerate real-time money movement.
