OSMOS X

19e Rue Edouard Branly, Bruz, Bretagne, 35170, France

Overview

OsmosX is developing a multi-use space tug intended for last-mile delivery, orbital repositioning and refueling, space debris mitigation, and interplanetary payload transport. The company says it will use a propulsion system that has been in development for over 30 years and claims tunable thrust of 1–100 newtons and a specific impulse greater than 200,000 seconds, a figure the article notes may be a typo. OsmosX plans to use the new capital to finance research and development and to prepare an initial demonstrator mission targeted for 2025. The startup was founded in late 2022 and is based in Rennes; it currently has a staff of six. CEO Matthieu Cavellier splits his time between OsmosX and two other companies—serving as CEO of Omega Physics and Managing Director of Pantechnik—and former ESA director general Jean-Jacques Dordain is a shareholder and chairs the non-executive supervisory board. The company also promotes a non-contact debris mitigation concept in animations on its website.
