Ossia is the developer of Cota® Real Wireless Power, a patented smart-antenna technology that safely delivers targeted energy to multiple devices at a distance. The company licenses Cota to a network of brands, system integrators and device makers and refers licensees to partners for silicon and integration. Ossia has received two FCC certifications for Cota systems and says more certifications are planned as Cota-enabled products develop. The company positions Cota to automatically keep multiple devices charged without user intervention, enabling truly wire-free device power. Ossia is headquartered in Bellevue, Washington and works through an ecosystem of integration and manufacturing partners to bring products to market. Ossia develops Cota, a remote wireless power technology designed to charge battery-powered devices without wires or pads. Its personal charging station prototype uses a base transmitter with more than 1,000 micro-antennas to beam up to one watt of power and can charge multiple chip-embedded devices up to six feet away without perfect line of sight. The system is engineered to be safe so that the user’s body does not receive the energy, and the device is undergoing FCC certification. Ossia has seven granted patents and filed more than 200 patent applications in the past 18 months. The Bellevue-based, 35-person company has partnerships with Molex, KDDI and Si‑Ware Systems and plans to release its first device later this year, targeting a $100–$200 price range for the personal area charger. Financially, Ossia announced a $2 million strategic investment from Molex and has raised about $27 million to date. Ossia develops Cota, a wireless power system designed to blanket areas with powered networks similar to Wi‑Fi. Cota can charge across a radius of about 30 feet from a single station, powering devices whether they are moving or stationary and serving the devices in a dwelling or suite of offices. The company offers white‑label charging stations, retrofits for existing battery-powered hardware, and licensing for OEMs and ODMs. Ossia debuted Cota on the TechCrunch Disrupt stage in 2013 and is led by founder and CEO Hatem Zeine. The company recently secured a $10M financing to spur further development of Cota and push commercialization efforts, particularly in Japan. A strategic partnership with KDDI is intended to accelerate adoption as IoT deployment expands.
