Otherworld operates city-centre venues that deliver out-of-home virtual reality experiences via multi-sensory immersion pods that integrate 360-degree heat, wind and rumble effects. The company programs VR content across entertainment, arts, education and wellness and calls itself a virtual island paradise in the cloud. Otherworld intends to use the new funding to enrich its VR experiences and to expand its world of content across the UK and internationally. Since opening its first site in Shoreditch in 2019, over 50,000 people have experienced Otherworld, including visitors such as Adele, Skepta, Jonathan Ross, KSI and Fnatic. The team is led by CEO Chris Adams and Chief Creative Officer Ed Wardle and has signed deals to open sites in London Victoria and Birmingham this summer. It plans further expansion to Manchester, Leeds and Glasgow over the next 12 months and is recruiting franchise partners in Germany and the United States.
