Overview

OurCrowd operates an online venture investing platform that connects accredited and institutional investors with vetted private technology companies. Founded in 2013 and based in Jerusalem, the platform has built a global investor base of 140,000 accredited investors across more than 195 countries. OurCrowd has invested in over 280 companies and 30 funds, and more than 50 portfolio companies have achieved exits (including Lemonade, Beyond Meat, Uber (Jump), Kenna, Argus and Wave). The company reported rapid user growth, with new subscribers rising from 25,000 in 2020 to 75,000 in 2021 (a 300% increase) with three months still remaining in the year. OurCrowd plans to use new capital to expand the platform, grow its investor base, and accelerate identification of private technology companies. OurCrowd is an Israeli crowdfunding platform that enables accredited and institutional investors to co-invest in startups and provides access to venture funds. The platform has invested in 220 companies across 22 funds and counts exits including Beyond Meat, Lemonade, JUMP Bike, Briefcam and Argus. OurCrowd offers partners access to its startup network and specific portfolio companies. The company plans to collaborate with strategic partners to create financial products and investment opportunities for the Japanese and global markets. Recently it received a $60M strategic investment from ORIX, which the company says will help accelerate its growth and bridge its portfolio to Asian markets. OurCrowd operates an online equity crowdfunding platform that enables accredited investors to co-invest alongside the firm in startups. The company plans to use new capital to expand its seven global offices and further develop its technology platform. Leadership says half of the Series C will be deployed to match investments made on the platform by the General Partner on the same terms as the crowd. OurCrowd has grown to 100 portfolio companies and reports more than $300 million invested across its deals, with nine exits (two IPOs and seven acquisitions). The firm is based in Israel and has signaled an ambition to scale its annual investment target to $1 billion by 2020. OurCrowd operates a hybrid venture-capital and equity crowdfunding platform that selects opportunities, invests its own capital, and offers curated deals to accredited members. The platform requires accredited investors to invest a minimum of $10,000 per deal and provides post-investment support, including mentors and board seats. Since launching in February 2013, OurCrowd has built a community of about 4,000 accredited investors and assembled 36 portfolio companies. To date the platform has raised $43 million for its portfolio companies across deals in 26 countries, with individual portfolio rounds growing to over $3 million and 18 companies having raised more than $1 million each. OurCrowd recently closed a $25 million Series B, which the company says is the largest round in the equity crowdfunding sector to date. The company plans to use the proceeds to expand activities in Israel and worldwide and to provide general partner funding participation for each OurCrowd deal.
