Its platform serves as the legally liable Merchant of Record for clients, handling payments, tax compliance, and regulatory risk across more than 20,000 indirect tax jurisdictions. An AI engine automatically assigns correct tax treatment and customs classifications, while dedicated local entities in each market give merchants access to domestic payment rails, local acquiring, and alternative payment methods. The company’s two flagship offerings are Merchant of Record, which creates isolated local entities to boost approval rates, and Tax of Record, which fully assumes VAT, GST, and sales-tax liability worldwide. Outpost already supports merchants operating across Europe, North America, LATAM, and Asia, including subscription platforms, consumer software firms, and cross-border e-commerce brands. To date, it has raised $20.5 million in venture funding, comprising a $3 million seed and a $17.5 million Series A. The new capital will be used to expand operations and accelerate product development.
