Overview
OverNest's first product, GitZero, enables developers to store source code in encrypted repositories while maintaining the ability to search across encrypted files. GitZero acts as a layer on top of Git, preserving the standard Git command-line interface, encrypting files on upload and building a searchable index tied to a separate search key. Authorized users supply a search key to query encrypted content; keys can be shared via standard key managers or, optionally, managed by OverNest for customers that prefer not to self-manage keys. The company positions the product as a way to protect intellectual property and guard against data breaches while allowing legitimate developer workflows to continue. OverNest launched in March 2015 and was founded by Ed Yu, Paul Lung and Michael Lai; GitZero was announced at the TechCrunch Disrupt Startup Battlefield in Brooklyn, NY. Financially, the company has received $1 million in seed funding.
