OwnID provides a passwordless authentication solution that moves login to users’ smartphones, using built-in biometric (face or fingerprint) verification and a cryptographic key stored on the phone. The product supports flows such as scanning a QR code on a TV to authenticate streaming services and a simple email + phone biometric flow for websites. Developers integrate via an API to offer a “skip password” option to users. OwnID is being made publicly available and is already working with enterprise customers including Nestlé and DeLonghi. The company has about 20 employees and plans to double headcount in the coming year. The founders, Dor Shany and Rooly Eliezerov, previously founded Gigya and sold it to SAP in 2017.
