Oxford Vacmedix

The Magdalen Centre Robert Robinson Avenue, Oxford Science Park, Oxford, Oxfordshire, OX4 4GA, United Kingdom

Overview

Oxford Vacmedix develops peptide-based cancer vaccines, with its lead candidates OVM-100 (an HPV cervical cancer vaccine) and OVM-200 (a survivin-targeted vaccine for solid tumors) approaching phase 1. The company’s platform breaks target proteins into short, overlapping peptide fragments to boost cellular immunity and uses bacterial synthesis to reduce production time and cost. OVM has also conducted work on tuberculosis and nasopharyngeal carcinoma, though OVM-100 and OVM-200 are the most advanced based on tumor-model data. Initially the company plans to trial the vaccines as monotherapies, with an R&D strategy that includes combination studies alongside checkpoint inhibitors. OVM was spun out to commercialize research by Shisong Jiang based on work at the University of Oxford and Harvard. The company has expanded into Asia with a Hong Kong subsidiary and an R&D center in Changzhou and has licensed its technology into the Chinese market.
