Overview
Oxis Energy develops lithium–sulfur (Li–S) battery chemistry, cells and systems that do not comprise rare earth metals and are positioned for aerospace and electric-bus applications. Founded in 2005 and led by CEO Huw W. Hampson-Jones, the company is based in Oxford, UK. It has been granted 108 patents with 108 pending and continues to advance its Li–S technology. The company received a £3.75m investment and additional funding from a Korean electronics company and a European battery materials company. Oxis will use the funds to open a subsidiary in Brazil and expand its commercial reach throughout Latin America. It will also collaborate with CODEMIG on the exploitation of lithium deposits in Minas Gerais.
