Ozobot
129 W. Torrance Blvd., Redondo Beach, CA, 90277, United States
Overview
Ozobot produces golf-ball-sized toy robots that follow lines children draw with markers and can change behavior based on color codes; the devices work offline and also pair with a mobile app for more advanced programming and sharing. The company sells starter kits for about $60 through its direct online store and major retailers (Barnes & Noble, Toys “R” Us) and plans rollout to Best Buy and Target. More than half a million Ozobots (including Bit and Evo editions) have been sold to families, educators and schools, and the product has reached thousands of classrooms. Ozobot is developing deeper features and content aimed at tweens, young teens and older students, including robots that can respond to one another to create programmable swarms and more classroom-ready curriculum. The business is incorporated as Evollve Inc. and is based in Redondo Beach, Calif. A recent $3M Series A will be used to ramp up production and expand features and content to additional markets such as the U.S., France and South Korea.
