Overview
Pacific Air Filtration is a Seattle startup and UW CoMotion spinout building a novel electrostatic air filter that replaces metal plates with inexpensive, disposable foam to capture more particulates and be easier to manage. The product is currently in the industrial design phase and the company plans to release a standalone room-cleaning unit next February. Co-founders Dr. Igor Krichtafovitch and Larry Rothenberg developed the prototype with UW researchers and IP support from CoMotion. The company aims to price the unit below $500 and as close to $350 as possible, versus competing products that typically cost $800–$1,000. Pacific Air is seeking distribution partners for its initial product launch. Investors include members of the air filtration industry and Dr. Lon Bell, an expert in thermoelectric systems.
