Padlet
87 Graham St, San Francisco, California, 94129, United States
Overview
Padlet began as Wallwisher and, after joining Y Combinator, evolved into a simple collaborative website-builder that loads as a blank canvas where users add text, photos, videos, documents and links. The product is widely used in classrooms for lesson planning, assignments and in-class collaboration, and also for resumés, group sites and other use cases. The company offers premium tiers with user management, access control, increased security and privacy, larger file uploads, branding and themes, with planned features such as analytics, Google Apps integration, content filtering and reports. Padlet reports close to 3 million monthly unique users, with roughly 40% of users actively posting content. Pricing for premium tiers includes $5 per employee per year for business users, $45 per teacher per year with support for unlimited students, and a $5 per month option. With additional funding, Padlet plans to grow its team and product capabilities. Wallwisher offers an empty-canvas web application where users can write, collaborate and share content. The product is intentionally simple to enable many uses, including noticeboards, scrapbooks, playlists, charts, polls, brainstorming, and event management. Key features that improve the experience are real-time collaboration and file uploads; creating a new wall is one click and easily shareable. The team moved from a side project to working full time on the web application. Usage metrics in the article show 400,000 total users, with 257,000 using the service in the past 30 days and 262,000 posts created. The startup has received early funding support from Startup Chile and Thymos Capital LLP.
