Padlock Therapeutics
200 Cambridge Park Drive, Cambridge, MA, 02140, United States
Overview
Padlock Therapeutics develops PAD-directed therapeutics that aim to extinguish production of citrullinated protein autoantigens and proinflammatory mediators rather than broadly suppressing immune activity. The company's core approach targets the protein-arginine deiminase (PAD) enzyme family as the basis for new treatments. Clinical applications under evaluation include rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and multiple sclerosis. Padlock plans to use proceeds from its recent financing to deepen understanding of PAD biology and advance its pipeline of PAD-directed drug candidates. The company was co-founded in January 2014 by Atlas Venture and Michael Gilman, Ph.D.; Michael Gilman serves as Founder and CEO. Padlock was incubated in the Atlas Venture seed program and has an exclusive license from The Scripps Research Institute to foundational PAD technology and know-how.
