Paige builds AI-based computational pathology products designed to deliver insights to pathologists and oncologists, improving diagnostic confidence, productivity and precision in treatment decisions. Paige was founded in 2017 by Thomas Fuchs and colleagues from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and is the first company to receive FDA breakthrough designation for computational pathology products. The company received an additional $15 million from Goldman Sachs Merchant Banking Division, bringing Goldman Sachs' total commitment to $20 million. That investment was added to a previously announced Series B, which now totals $70 million after Healthcare Venture Partners increased its commitment by $5 million on top of a prior $10 million. After this financing Paige has raised more than $95 million in total capital. Paige also named David Castelblanco, Managing Director at Goldman Sachs, to its board of directors. Paige develops an artificial intelligence platform to improve cancer pathology and use those insights to develop better drug therapies. The company is commercializing its platform, expanding its research reach, and pursuing FDA clearance to launch in hospitals in North America and Europe. Paige has an exclusive relationship with Memorial Sloan Kettering, including access to MSK’s 25 million pathology slides and related IP, which underpins its machine‑learning models. It recently struck a deal with Invicro LLC (a Konica Minolta subsidiary) to provide integrated pathology solutions for pharmaceutical and biotechnology sponsors. The startup has added several beta sites that have completed studies due to be published soon and says the new capital will support product development for remote pathology workflows. Management says the firm is well‑capitalized and focused on cancer work rather than COVID‑19 projects. Paige builds clinical-grade computational pathology technologies and an AI-native digital pathology ecosystem aimed at improving cancer diagnosis, throughput, and biomarker discovery. The company delivers its technology via partnerships (including a deal with Philips) and its own platform designed to integrate with hospital workflows. Paige has positioned its products for regulatory clearance, having earned the first FDA breakthrough designation for AI in pathology and oncology and a CE mark. The company reports a digital slide archive of more than 1.2 million images and is developing systems that combine slides with genomic, drug response, and outcome data. Paige plans to use new funding to drive FDA clearance, expand its product portfolio into deeper cancer pathology, novel biomarkers, and prognostic capabilities, and accelerate commercial efforts. The company was launched in early 2018 to bring technology created at Memorial Sloan Kettering to the market; MSK and founder Thomas Fuchs have financial interests related to Paige. Paige.AI develops AI-powered computational pathology tools that analyze digitized tissue slides to improve accuracy and speed of cancer diagnoses. The company is focusing initially on breast, prostate and other major cancers and plans to partner with additional medical centers, commercial labs, and pharmaceutical companies as it develops applications. Paige secured exclusive access to Memorial Sloan Kettering’s repository of 25 million pathology slides and related computational-pathology intellectual property via a licensing deal. MSK had already digitized 5 million of those slides and Paige has committed to digitize the remaining 20 million. The startup was essentially hatched inside MSK; CEO Dr. Thomas Fuchs and co-founder Dr. David Klimstra retain their MSK roles, and Norman Selby serves as chairman. Financially, Paige announced a $25 million Series A led by Jim Breyer of Breyer Capital; MSK received equity as part of the license but was not a cash investor.
