Overview
Panacea Pharmaceuticals develops a nanoparticle-based anti-cancer therapeutic vaccine designed to enhance patients' antibody and cellular immune responses specifically against cancer cells. The company's lead immunotherapeutic is intended to enable the immune system to control cancer cells, and Panacea also pursues diagnostic and adjunct products for integrated cancer management. Its late-stage preclinical pipeline includes radio-immunoimaging using a radioisotope-labeled all-human anti-HAAH antibody, radio-immunotherapy with short-lived alpha or beta emitters bound to the anti-HAAH antibody, a neuroprotectant called BrainGuard to protect the brain from chemotherapy damage, and naked all-human anti-HAAH antibody products. Panacea met with the FDA earlier in the year to discuss a pre-IND submission covering manufacturing, animal toxicology and human trial strategies. Based on that meeting, the company targeted filing an IND in Q1 2016 and initiating a Phase 1 clinical study in cancer patients in Q2 2016. The company is led by Chairman & CEO/CSO Hossein Ghanbari, PhD, and closed a Series E financing to fund near-term clinical progress.
