Paperstack offers a technology-assisted bookkeeping and tax-filing solution tailored to freelancers, enabling tracking of business expenses, identification of tax deductions, GST/HST remittance, and annual tax-return preparation. The product is intended to give freelancers CPA-like benefits without high fees. The company plans an Ontario launch late this year with a gradual cross-Canada rollout in 2022. Paperstack was accepted into Google’s Women Founders Accelerator and intends to leverage Google’s engineering resources to develop an AI-driven bookkeeping and tax platform. The team currently consists of two co-founders and has added a professional chartered accountant while recruiting bookkeepers, engineers, and marketers. Paperstack has also signed a paid distribution pilot with an unnamed Canadian fintech unicorn to help that company’s clients with incorporation and taxes.
