Overview

ParadeDB is an open source Postgres extension that enables full-text search and analytics directly in Postgres so users do not need to transfer data to a separate system. The platform integrates with cloud-managed Postgres services such as Google Cloud SQL, Azure Postgres, and Amazon RDS. Co‑founders Philippe Noël (CEO) and Ming Ying (CTO) started the company after encountering Postgres search limitations while building their prior startup, Whist. ParadeDB was founded in 2023 and released its first open source version later that year; Alibaba became its first customer in May 2024, which pushed the company to build an enterprise version. It now works with enterprise customers including Modern Treasury, Bilt Rewards, and TCDI. The company is a team of four planning to grow to at least ten employees and will use recent funding to hire and to improve the product’s user interface and analytics capabilities.
