ParcelSea designs and manufactures personal smart mailboxes comprised of three sections that accept various package sizes and up to five grocery bags. The company uses an open solution approach so essentially all couriers and grocery stores can leave packages. It is targeting private, terraced and semi-detached houses and aims to provide a smart-home mailbox that accepts packages, food and friend-to-friend goods without human contact. Future product plans include new services such as a freezer compartment for food, parcel delivery and return functionality, and additional smart-home integrations. The Tallinn-based startup has nine team members, pre-orders that have exceeded expectations, and will begin installing several hundred boxes in the coming weeks with a goal of at least 1,000 boxes across Estonia by year-end. ParcelSea plans a pilot in Finland and Sweden at the end of the summer and seeks long-term global deployment of its smart mailbox network.
