Overview
Particle, founded in February 2023 by former Twitter engineers Sara Beykpour and Marcel Molina, is building a mobile news-reading app that uses GPT-4o and other AI models to condense and analyze coverage from a curated spectrum of publishers. Instead of surfacing single articles, the product groups reporting from multiple outlets into a single storyline, helping users quickly understand differing angles and avoid filter bubbles. The company has begun partnering directly with media organizations, subscribing to Reuters’ newswire as its first formal collaboration, and plans to co-design new revenue-sharing, advertising or micropayment models with publishers. Currently available only to a small private-beta cohort on iOS TestFlight, Particle intends to expand to web and Android. Fresh capital is earmarked for hiring back-end engineers, SREs, community and editorial leads, and media-partnership specialists. Including its latest financing, the startup has raised $15.3 million to date, though it has not yet disclosed revenue or user numbers.
