PartPic provides a visual-parts identification system that, once licensed by a manufacturer, ingests 360-degree photos and metadata for every part in the inventory. Users take a photo of a part and PartPic’s algorithm returns the part name and model number. The product is designed to reduce time and cost for customer support and parts replacement by avoiding lengthy phone descriptions. The company says the solution scales to very large inventories—manufacturers with up to 500,000 parts—which could yield significant operational savings. Financially, PartPic recently closed a $1.5M seed round from a group of 15+ angels, VCs, and strategic investors and also won a $100,000 investment from Steve Case after winning The Rise of the Rest. PartPic has also won other pitch competitions, including best enterprise technology at SXSW’s accelerator showcase.
