Overview
PatientPing is a Boston-based care collaboration and e-notifications platform that enables providers to collaborate on shared patients through real-time Admission, Discharge, Transfer (ADT) data. Led by CEO Jay Desai, the company connects thousands of healthcare providers and health plans across the continuum of care, with 1,000+ hospitals and 5,000+ post-acute care facilities currently connected. Its core product is the Pings network for e-notifications and an enterprise care collaboration suite that recently added Callouts and Spotlights. Callouts helps providers improve patient engagement and enroll patients in programs and supplemental benefits, while Spotlights provides real-time network performance management dashboards. PatientPing also introduced a COVID-19 Flag feature to alert providers in real time when patients with COVID-19-like symptoms have care events. The company plans to use new funding to accelerate expansion to new geographies and extend its product capabilities. PatientPing, based in Boston, MA, provides a real-time notification platform for providers to manage patient admits, transfers and discharges across acute, ambulatory and post-acute settings. Led by founder & CEO Jay Desai, the company connects a nationwide community of more than 15,000 providers — physicians, nurses, case managers and care coordinators — spanning hospitals, ACOs, physician practices, skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies, inpatient rehabilitation centers, payers and others in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Vermont and New Hampshire. The company raised $31.6M in a Series B round, bringing total funding to $41.2M to date. The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz and Leerink Transformation Partners (LTP). PatientPing plans to use the funds to accelerate expansion into new geographies, develop product enhancements, and hire across growth, operations, engineering and product development teams. The company plans to expand into several new markets next year. PatientPing operates a network of emergency rooms and urgent care clinics and provides mobile and desktop software that alerts a patient’s care team when that patient is admitted elsewhere. Customers supply patient rosters (from PCPs, ACOs, skilled nursing facilities, home care nurses, and others) and PatientPing matches admissions in its network to trigger notifications. When a patient on a roster is admitted, the patient’s provider receives a “ping” and the admitting facility receives care guidelines including contact information, medication lists, allergies, and special instructions. The company currently operates in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. PatientPing has built the service to address gaps in post-discharge coordination that were common under fee-for-service models. The company plans to use new funding to expand its four-state network nationwide and says additional launches are ready; once the network is larger it will explore offerings beyond notifications and guidelines.
