Overview

PatientWisdom, based in New Haven, Conn., offers a suite of digital solutions that improve health and care by listening to patients, providers, and community members both individually and at scale. Led by founder and CEO Gregory Makoul, PhD, MS, the company provides three products—PatientWisdom, ProviderWisdom and CommunityWisdom—that gather real-world perspectives and analyze them into actionable insights for health organizations. PatientWisdom has demonstrated its model with health systems including Yale New Haven Health, Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin, and OSF HealthCare. The company raised an additional $1m in Series A funding from Chicago-based OCA Ventures, bringing total capital raised to $3.45m. It plans to use the proceeds to meet market demand, build sales capacity and analytic capabilities, enhance patient and provider experience, address burnout, and develop programs to increase community engagement. PatientWisdom develops a digital application that enables patients to share stories about themselves, their health, and their care so providers can understand what matters most to them. The information patients provide is made available to care teams via a dashboard that offers quick insights and helps clinicians know their patients. The technology also lets patients contribute ideas on how health organizations can improve. PatientWisdom is led by co-founder Gregory Makoul, Ph.D. As part of its growth, the company is working with OSF Innovation Partnerships to co-develop ProviderWisdom, a tool to collect and surface insights about providers’ work lives and ideas for improving clinical workflows. The company received an investment from OSF Ventures; the amount of the deal was not disclosed.
