Overview
Pawprint is an app that asks users a series of lifestyle questions to calculate and compare their carbon footprints across categories such as Home, Diet and Travel. Users can compare their own "pawprints" with others and are incentivised with rewards to reduce their environmental impact. Christian Arno positions the product as a vehicle to build a wider movement around sustainability and to bring people together at work and in communities. The app officially launched on Monday 28 September and has attracted early momentum from socially conscious consumers and employees. Since launch Pawprint has raised more than £900k from over 1,200 investors, and the fundraising has enabled the company to recruit senior-level staff to accelerate development and growth. Arno draws on prior experience building Lingo24 and views Pawprint as part of the broader "tech for good" trend shaping consumer and business behaviour. Pawprint offers a free platform and app that measures individual carbon footprints and provides personalised challenges and tips to help users lower emissions. The product asks consumers about lifestyle choices and breaks footprints into four buckets: Home, Diet, Travel and Consumer Goods, allowing comparisons with country averages and peer groups. As users reduce their footprints they can compete with friends and colleagues and earn rewards, reinforcing behaviour change. The company plans to launch the Pawprint platform and app in early summer 2020. The initial fundraising has allowed Pawprint to accelerate hiring and operational activity, including hiring two senior executives to build teams. Pawprint operates out of Edinburgh and is working with WeWork Labs on its early team and go-to-market efforts.
