Founded in 2022 by Barak Amtanani and Ori Levy, Paytag has built a checkout-free retail solution that combines an in-store mobile app, RFID self-checkout kiosks, and a patented smart tag-removal device. Shoppers scan an item’s tag with their phone, pay within the app, detach the tag at a dedicated station, and leave the store without queuing or setting off alarms. The platform also offers smart fitting rooms and RFID gates that integrate with retailers’ ERP and POS systems. The technology is already in commercial use in Israel with chains such as Renoir and Kidisheek, and the company is negotiating with additional global retailers ahead of the NRF conference. Paytag targets fashion retailers facing labor shortages and consumers who expect fast, autonomous shopping experiences. The eight-person team plans to use new capital to scale production, expand internationally, and continue product development. Revenue figures were not disclosed, but production lines are in place and the company has recently moved into a larger office.
