Paytm Mall is a Noida-based online marketplace that has recently shifted its business model toward offline O2O "shopkeeper commerce" and broader cross-border trade. The company has taken steps to tackle cashback fraud and reduced incentives to prevent misuse. Since the strategic shift, average transaction value slipped from Rs 1,600 to Rs 1,000 while repeat transactions have increased, producing more business per customer. Paytm Mall has cut its monthly losses from a peak burn of Rs 200 crore to about Rs 30 crore and is aiming to grow gross sales from Rs 13,000 crore in FY19 to Rs 17,000 crore in FY20 while trimming spending. The company has raised a little over $600 million to date and was valued at about $2 billion last year; major shareholders include Alibaba/Ant Financial, SoftBank, SAIF Partners and founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma. eBay's investment is positioned to accelerate cross-border offerings and could account for 15–20% of Paytm Mall's gross sales in coming years. Paytm Mall is the e-commerce arm of Paytm, positioned as a marketplace similar to Alibaba’s Tmall and focused on an online-to-offline (O2O) retail model. The company aims to empower shopkeepers with technology, strengthen logistics, and build the Paytm Mall brand to deliver a better customer experience. Management says the fresh funds will be used to expand the O2O model and support offline merchants. Paytm Mall was created as a separate company in August 2016. The platform is targeting intensified competition with Flipkart and Amazon in India. Following the latest funding the company is valued at $2 billion.
