Paper Battery Company has developed a proprietary, patented and scalable technology to produce ultra-thin, flexible ultracapacitors for devices such as smartphones, tablets, wearables, remote servers and Internet of Things products. Its first product line, PowerPatch, provides scalable voltage, energy and peak power in a single ultrathin package that can augment or work with lithium-ion batteries to improve battery life, thermal efficiency and signal effectiveness while reducing bill-of-materials cost. The company installed a new pilot production line, launched a commercial partnership with a battery pack manufacturer in Asia, and signed a test-and-evaluation contract with a potential large consumer-electronics customer. PowerPatch prototypes have been validated by customers, partners, and strategic investors, and the company has received recognition including a TIE50 2013 award and awards from the NY State Energy and Research Development Authority. The financing announced will be used to scale from the pilot line to commercial manufacturing and to achieve first sales revenues in 2015. The company is based in Troy, N.Y.
