Peach curates and delivers lunches to office workers across a metro area, sending members a daily text with the dish of the day and accepting orders via a 'yes' reply. Led by founder and CEO Nishant Singh, the company operates in Seattle and San Diego and has expanded into catering. Peach offers Lite and Vegetarian options for every lunch. Since launching in June 2014, Peach has delivered more than 400,000 meals. The company raised $8M in Series A financing to support expansion. It intends to expand the service to major cities, including Boston and DC, by the end of the year. Peachd operates a lunchtime delivery service that selects one dish per day from local restaurants and offers it to office members via a morning text with an order link. Customers typically pay an average of $10 per dish, have one hour to confirm by replying “yes,” and receive their food an hour later at a predetermined office location. The company shares revenue with partnering restaurants and differentiates itself by focusing exclusively on lunch and not charging delivery fees. Peachd is active in Seattle and Washington D.C. and makes deliveries to offices at companies including Amazon, Microsoft and Porch. The startup was founded earlier this year by ex-Amazon engineers Nishant Singh, Denis Bellavance and Chenyu Wang. It currently employs five people and plans to use new funding to hire additional employees and enter more markets. Peachd faces competition from established delivery services such as Caviar, Eat24, Bitesquad, Postmates and entrants like Munchery and Amazon’s takeout initiatives.
