Peaks is an Amsterdam-based investing platform founded in 2016 and launched in 2017 that targets first-time investors and millennials with a simple, mobile-first app. The product differentiates itself by enabling users to invest small amounts and offering a convenient, user-friendly experience similar to consumer-focused trading apps. Within four years the platform grew to more than 130,000 active users across the Netherlands and Germany. Peaks plans to invest in product development to broaden its target group, enable users to build their own portfolios, and explore business-to-business (B2B) offerings. The company intends to expand its customer base in the Netherlands and Germany and ultimately make its service accessible to users across Europe. Management says the new capital will support growth and further make investing accessible to a broader group of consumers.
