PearAI
San Francisco, CA, United States
Overview
PearAI began as an AI code editor launched as a proof-of-concept on GitHub by founders Nang Ang and Duke Pan, who are also YouTubers. After facing criticism over similarities to another open-source editor and a nonstandard license, the team switched to a standard open-source license and reworked the product. They pivoted from shipping an editor to building a framework that curates AI coding tools, enabling multiple tools to communicate in the backend and present a unified front-end interface. The front end is designed to make several tools feel like a single product, and the platform will integrate with many AI coding tools, including Continue. PearAI graduated Y Combinator’s winter 2024 cohort and has modified its idea and product based on user and community feedback. Financially, the company closed a seed raise totaling $1.25 million, including YC’s standard $375,000 deal.
