Pearl Diagnostics
1812 Ashland Avenue, Ste. G32, Baltimore, MD, 21205, United States
Overview
Founded in 2014 as a Johns Hopkins spinout, Pearl Diagnostics developed a urine-based diagnostic test that detects signs of aspergillosis and has received FDA clearance. The company also secured CE approval, enabling sales across the European Union, and plans to start selling its lead product in the U.S. following the Series A. Pearl has historically advanced through grants and angel investment rather than traditional venture rounds. Leadership changes include the addition of CEO Eric Gornstein last fall to drive commercialization. The company plans to use the $11.2 million Series A to commercialize in the U.S., expand into Europe, and continue developing additional tests on its platform, including one targeting Pseudomonas infection.
