Peep is a private real-time photo-sharing mobile app that lets groups create shared galleries called "peeps" to exchange photos in real time. Peeps are private by default, joinable by request or invitation, and can be made 'secret' for invitation-only access. The product targets event and group use cases—concerts, weddings, parties—or sharing among friends and family. The app is free, will launch in beta later this month, and will initially be available on iOS with general availability expected by early fall. Peep has completed a $3.7 million seed round led by private investors to fund its launch and early growth. The company says it uses proprietary technology to enable real-time sharing while preserving image quality and controlling access, and it has several pending patent applications; it has partnered with BlueMetal Architects to optimize for security and scalability. Peep is based in Norwalk, CT and is led by a team of technology veterans with an advisory board and newly named CMO and CFO.
